Do you Have logos I can use to link to
the UPCInet Classifieds site from my website ?
Of course, we love it when people link their
site to ours. Here are some logos and some
example code as well.
What if there is no Category that makes
sense for my Ad ?
This site is constantly evolving and
improving. We may have missed some
Categories.
Contact Us and we will add a new
category if it seems like a good addition to
the Category structure. Suggestions and
ideas are always welcome.
What
are "Hits" ?
Hits are the number of times an Ad has
been viewed. This gives you a rough estimate
of how many times your Ad has been viewed.
Why do some Ads in the system show a small
Thumbnail picture next to the Ad when listed
?
When a JPEG picture is uploaded with your Ad
the system automatically generates a tiny,
optimized, and quickly loading thumbnail
image that is displayed when browsing or
searching for Ads. If you are linking to a
picture with your Ad you will not see a
thumbnail image with your Ad. If you want a
thumbnail to be shown we suggest you upload
a JPEG picture instead of linking to one.
This feature does not work if you upload a
GIF image, the image must be a JPEG.
Why am I having trouble registering for the
site ?
To
register you must have a valid email
account because part of the registration
process involves emailing you a validation
code. Your new account will not be activated
until you receive that email and click on
the validation link. This is done to reduce
fraudulent user submissions. If you do not
enter your email address correctly the
system can not email you and you will not be
able to activate your account. Make sure you
use a valid email account. It is also
possible that the system won't be able to
email your email account because of some
sort of network problem with an email
server, something out of our control. Some
email servers will not accept emails sent
from a web site. Therefore you might not
receive the registration email. If you are
not receiving the validation email you might
want to consider registering for a free
Hotmail email account and try using that
as your UPCInet Classifieds email. An alternate email
account can be a useful thing to have for
many reasons. If you are still having
trouble registering
contact us and we will try to help.
How do I remove an Ad from the system ?
If you need to remove an Ad from the system
simply sign in and go to the
user area and Click on "Manage Your Ads".
Then find the Ad you want to remove and
click "Remove Ad".
After confirming Ad removal your Ad will no
longer show up in the system.
My email address has changed. How can I
change it in the UPCInet Classifieds system ?
If you have a new email address and would
like it changed simply
contact us and we will change it for
you. You must send us your username and
password to verify who you are.
How do I contact someone if I am interested
in their Ad ?
If you want to contact someone about
their Ad you have a couple of options. If
their phone number is listed you can call
them. If you see a "Reply To Ad" link you
can click on that and send them a message.
If you do this they will receive an email
notifying them that they have a new message
in the UPCInet Classifieds system. When they sign in to
the system and read your message they can
respond to you via your email. They could
also possibly call you if you give them your
phone number. When using the "Reply To Ad"
feature the email address of the person
posting the Ad will be initially unknown to
you for privacy reasons. If they reply to
your message then you will know their email
address and the two of you can then
communicate about the Ad.
How
do the Categories work ?
The Categories in the UPCInet
Classifieds can go 4
levels deep. Each time you click on a
Category the system will go into that
Category as well as show you all Sub
Categories within the Category you clicked
on. Furthermore, when you see a Category
such as "General Merchandise" and then
underneath it in smaller print you see four
Sub Categories... that doesn't mean there
are only 4 Sub Categories. The system only
shows the 1st four Sub Categories on that
screen. To see all of the Sub Categories
under "General Merchandise" click on
"General Merchandise", otherwise you might
miss a lot of items as you browse around the
system looking for Ads.
I want to upload a picture, but I am
confused. What are JPEG and GIF images ?
Both GIF and JPEG are the standard file
formats for images used on the web. If you
have an image file and it is not in one of
these formats you will need to convert it.
Most graphics applications can import a
variety of formats and save as a JPEG or
GIF. It is recommended that you use JPEG
images when uploading pictures into the
UPCInet Classifieds system.
You will find that the process of converting
an image to JPEG or GIF is very easy process
in most graphics programs: This is the usual
process, however it may vary depending on
the graphics software you are using.
1. Using
your graphics program open the file in
its existing format.
2. From
File menu, choose Save As. Sometimes you
have to choose export. It depends on the
program being used.
3. Choose
JPEG or GIF from the file format
drop-down menu. And Click OK.
4. A
dialog box pops up to prompt you to save
the file on your hard drive. Save it in
a place where you will remember where it
is saved. When saving JPEG images your
graphics program may ask you to choose a
quality/compression setting. Experiment
here with the amount of compression you
can achieve without losing quality. This
part really isn't all that important.
The higher the compression, the lower
size the picture will take and it will
then upload faster to the UPCInet
Classifieds
system. Also, If you set the compression
level too high the picture may look bad.
Is personal information given out to 3rd
parties ?
No, all information contained within your
UPCInet Classifieds account is used only by UPCInet Classifieds.
We do not give out or sell your personal
information. You have the option to make
your Name, Username, or Company Name show up
with your Ad's. You also have the option to
have your phone number not be shown with
your Ad's. |
